Description: Why are entrepreneurs like Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and Richard Branson fixated on space travel? A new generation of international entrepreneurs and nations are looking to change the world through new investments in space, and Canada needs to take part.

As Canada celebrates over 55 years as a leading space-faring nation, join us for a review of past Canadian technological and commercial successes in space and a look at the potential for the Canadian space sector in these transformative times. Why is it critical for Canada to participate in this ‘New Space’ revolution? What innovations can space assets bring to this nation and the world?

Guest Speaker:

Michael Pley, P.Eng., retired as CEO of Cambridge, Ontario based COM DEV International Ltd. in 2016 after a 30-year career involved in commercial, civil and military space. A long time advocate for the Canadian space industry, he currently chairs the Space Committee and is a member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors for the Aerospace Industries Association of Canada. He was appointed to the Government of Canada’s Space Advisory Board in 2017. He continues to work part-time as a consultant to space companies, including entrepreneurial SMEs launching new services from space. As an alumnus, he also chairs the Dean’s Advisory Board for the Faculty of Engineering at McMaster University.
