Halton Region’s Skyway Wastewater Treatment Plant Tour

Have you ever wondered what happens to the water from your shower, bath, laundry and toilet after it goes down the drain?

PEO Oakville Chapter invites you to a plant tour to the Skyway Wastewater Treatment facility to find out how our utility system works. You will learn about history of our wastewater treatment system, tips on preventing pollution. You will also go behind the scenes to see (and smell) how such infrastructure works.

Halton Region’s Skyway Wastewater Treatment Plant just completed its expansion and upgrades in late 2016. A new sand filtration process, which provides a tertiary level of treatment, was added to improve the quality of the treated water. A new laboratory and regional operations facility was also constructed to facilitate plant operations and monitor water quality. The expanded plant will now have the capacity to treat and discharge the equivalent of over 56 Olympic pools of clean water into Lake Ontario every day.

This tour is expected to take approximately 2 hours. Please dress appropriately since some part of the tour will be outdoor, also no high heel or open toe shoes.

This event is organized for PEO Members only. Due to space limitation, this event is limited to the first 23 registrants.
