Chair’s Message

I want to begin by saying thank you to all of the members who selected me as their Chair for 2017. I look forward to another great year working together with our Executive Board to deliver a calendar full of interesting events. We have chosen a strong board again this year, which is made up of new and existing members. We will continue to improve service to our membership as well as deepen our position within the Oakville and Milton communities.

One of my main goals as chair is to focus on building strong partnerships. Earlier this year, our chapter held an event at the Oakville Conference Centre where OPG CEO Jeff Lyash was our guest speaker.

In March, we coordinated National Engineering Month at Holy Trinity High School in Oakville, where almost 200 attended to learn about engineering through design competitions and meeting engineers. In June, we will be partnering with the Hamilton-Burlington Chapter to hold an event at McMaster Innovation Park and give our members the opportunity to find out more about this unique innovation incubator. We are teaming up with the Oakville Chamber of Commerce again this year to deliver a symposium on private public partnerships (P3), which will be held on November 17th. During my time as chair, I will do everything possible to keep the recognition of our brand as the “the engineers” in our community growing and thriving. I want to thank my predecessor, now Past Chair, Sohail Nasser P.Eng. for helping to build our brand and for his mentorship over that last two years.

Lastly, I want to communicate to all of our members about the importance of an updated email address on the PEO website. It is vital that we have correct addresses in place to ensure that all communication delivered electronically is received by as many members as possible. Please stay tuned for upcoming e-blasts and continue to visit our website at for upcoming events. I look forward to seeing you soon!
